The Roundup — Christmas Edition

This week I’ve got a few Christmas-ish things for you. The first is a podcast with Alexander Shaia & Rob Bell that touches on Advent and darkness. I listened to it over the weekend and I think I’m going to listen again. Shaia gave me a lot to think about and I’ve been mulling over much of it this week.

The second is a song by Gungor featuring All Sons & Daughters. It’s been my go-to song this season. I’ve used it to meditate and pray, to wrap my gifts, shared it with our community group, you get the idea.

The third is the poem “Ring Out, Wild Bells” by Tennyson.

I hope you enjoy them all as much as I have. Merry Christmas!

Ring Out, Wild Bells

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light:
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die…

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.

Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson
