midweek roundup — 4.3.19

I’m basically cheating this week because someone else did this roundup for me! My friend, Rhody, recommended I check out the TED Radio Hour podcast hosted by Guy Raz and this morning I downloaded the most recent episode.

Raz basically pulls together different TED talks that encircle the some of the same issues and then gives a highlight reel of sorts, interviewing the speakers and making brief connections between the topics. I don’t know if they are all like this, given this was my first listen, but it was surprisingly in-depth, considering he covered highlights from five different TED talks.

The topic for the show I heard (released last Friday) was CONFRONTING RACISM and below are the three TED talks that I found most interesting. The whole show was riveting. I’ve never thought about time as racial and the information about how we write and read about athletes was new to me. And I appreciate the final one because I think educating white folks about whiteness/bias/racism is white folks’ work and this guy is doing the work.

You can go here to check out the podcast homepage — for some reason there isn’t an embed link for the whole podcast but you can find it on the homepage. If you’re reading this in your email, you might need to click through the website to see / access the TED players.
